NAD JOURNAL Dear all: We are working to publish on-line the first issue of NAD on-line Journal entitled "Between Theory and Practice: Working on GAD and Women Issues in the Arab World". Journal is bilingual: Arabic and English. The publication will attempt to present different examples of working on Gender and Development (GAD) and Women issues in the region, illustrating the difficulties form different levels/spheres and the successful stories. It will also discuss the differences (or not) between working on gender issues and working on women issues from the field experience. We will be eager also to present men's perspectives and issues of masculinity. Both men and women are invited to contribute. There will be emphasis on the *practices* side of the argument to give an understanding of how people live the experience of working on such issues but please keep (build) an analytical thread through your writing to conclude with some kind of hypothesis. Theoretical (intellectual) pieces are also welcomed. Length: 5000 - 10,000 words, that is to allow a deep study of the issues. Theoretical pieces may be shorter. References: pls include notes and references at the end of the paper. Language: preferably in both Arabic and English if that is possible. Deadline: to be submitted by October 1st, 2000. Please the earliest you can send them the better it is - you will easy up the work on us. Book Reviews: the journal will include a section on book reviews. You can send a 200 word piece on related books to international/Arab development and/or gender. Make sure to include references and methods of ordering (if any).
