Air travel advisory via Calgary International Airport / Canadian

4th International Conference on Integrating Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) and Environmental Modeling (GIS/EM4)

To be held at The Banff Centre for Conferences, Banff, Alberta, Canada,
Sep. 2-8, 2000
***********************************************************************
We look forward to welcoming you to the 4th International Conference on
Integrating GIS and Environmental Modeling (GIS/EM4), to be convened in
Banff, Alberta, Canada in just over a month! We hope that your
conference registration and travel arrangements are being handled
efficiently. It appears the meeting will be very well attended. 300
reserved rooms at The Banff Centre for Conferences were sold out prior
to our booking deadline and an even larger number of participants were
already registered to attend. Additional space is available within the
adjacent town of Banff where an effort is being made to secure the most
affordable lodging available. The final conference program, du out this
week, will detail preliminary tutorials/workshops, important keynote
speakers, modeling and GIS tool demonstrations, and nearly 300 paper and
poster presentations.

Should you not have already made travel arrangements to Calgary, Alberta
and subsequently to Banff, we strongly suggest you try to complete these
within 21 days prior to the anticipated arrival time in the province of
Alberta to receive the lowest airfare possible and a guaranteed seat
reservation. Calgary, Alberta hosts one of the busiest international
airports in Canada and receives flights from all major airlines both
domestic and international. Over the last few months however, Canadian
air travel has undergone major structural changes. The two major
airlines, Canadian Airlines and Air Canada, have merged into one company
with the result that flights have been reduced within Canada and North
America to the major centers formerly serviced by these two airlines.
Also, there will be a higher demand for airline reservations within
Canada as September 4 is a national holiday in Canada and air traffic
will be heavy. If you are relying on a Canadian airline for travel to
Calgary, Alberta, we strongly suggest you book as soon as possible.
