The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC) invites applications
for its 2001-2002 Scholars in Residence program and its recently
inaugurated
Collaborative Residency Program. The Scholars in Residence program
provides
support for full-time research and study in the manuscript and artifact
collections at any Commission facility, including the Pennsylvania State
Archives, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, and 26 historic sites and
museums around the state. The Collaborative Residency Program funds
research that relates to the Interpretive mission and advances the
programmatic goals of any PHMC program or facility, including the agency's
historic sites and museums.

Proposals for a Collaborative Residency are to be filed jointly by the
interested scholar and host program/facility. Both programs are open to
all who are conducting research on topics broadly related to Pennsylvania
history, including academic scholars, public sector history professionals,
independent scholars, graduate students, educators, writers, filmmakers,
and others.

Residencies are available for four to twelve weeks, between May 1, 2001 and
April 30, 2002, at the rate of $1,500 per month. Deadline for application
is January 12, 2001. For further information and application materials,
