In response,activists blocked logging for 161 days. Finally, after many attempts, the Maxxam cut into this intact ecosystem with the assistance of various government agencies, including the police and Fish and Game. Activists remain in the forest, despite arrests, beatings, being chased off cliffs, pepper spray, and cold water poured on them in cold temperatures. They continue to slow Maxxam. But they need your help. Here is information on the Mattole Action Camp May 18-24, the Mattole Legal Rally June 3, the FBI Lawsuit Rally May 24, and a list of needs (people, supplies, money) and contacts for Mattole Forest Defenders.
