        Attend ECOnference 2001

        October 19-21, 2001

        George Washington University, Washington DC

It's 2001 and our environment is in a state of crisis. Only
4% of our ancient forests remain standing. Global warming is
becoming a reality as we finish another of the hottest
summers on record - the 10 hottest years on record have all
occurred since 1980. More than 160 million Americans live in
cities that violate federal standards for air pollution.
40% of our nation's waters are unsafe for fishing and
swimming according to the EPA. More than 50,000 species
become extinct worldwide each year. Despite these
overwhelming problems our nation's political and business
leaders move slowly, if at all, towards long term solutions.

Now is the time to do something about it! ECOnference 2001
is a national environmental conference taking place at the
George Washington University in Washington DC on
October 19 - 21, 2001. Thousands of students from across the
country will be gathering for a weekend of workshops,
speakers, discussion groups, and political action. Some of
the greatest environmental leaders of our time, like Lois
Gibbs, Damu Smith and Jim Hightower will be there to speak
and lead workshops.

The conference is sponsored by over 50 national
environmental organizations including Sierra Student
Coalition, Greenpeace, the PIRGs and Free the Planet!.
ECOnference 2001
will be a great opportunity to learn the skills necessary to
make a difference on some of the most important issues of
our time.

Don't miss out on this historic event.
