The National Humanities Center will award 3-4 fellowships for scholarship
concerning nature, environmental history, or ecological issues. Tenure
September 2002-May 2003. Application deadline: October 15, 2001. Awards,
individually determined; range: $30,000 to $50,000 plus travel expenses for
Fellows and dependents. The National Humanities Center is a private
nonprofit institute for advanced study that annually awards residential
fellowships to forty leading scholars from all fields of the humanities and
to humanistically inclined individuals from the sciences, the arts, and
professional life. The Center provides private studies, library and
editorial service, dining facilities, and administrative support. For
