WOMEN'S STUDIES/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS DARTMOUTH. Assistant Professor to teach
Introduction to Women's Studies, upper-level courses in Women's Studies,
and courses in an academic discipline represented at UMass Dartmouth.
Two-thirds of workload in Women's Studies. Salary competitive, tenure
track. Contingent on funding. Available January or September 2002.

Successful candidate must have:
�       a terminal degree in Women's Studies or in any of the academic
disciplines represented in the university's five colleges
�       publication record in Women's Studies
�       successful teaching experience in Women's Studies
�       experience in developing a WMS program

Preferred qualifications include:
�       a degree in Women's Studies (BA, MA, certificate)
�       extensive teaching experience
�       established publication record in Women's Studies
�       experience with collaborative curriculum development
�       interest in and/or teaching experience with global feminist
perspectives
�       awareness of new technologies in education

The five colleges at UMass Dartmouth include Arts & Sciences, Business,
Nursing, Visual and Performing Arts and Engineering. The campus is located

60 miles from Boston and 30 miles from Providence on the southern coast of

Massachusetts.  UMass Dartmouth's Women's Studies program includes a strong


collaboration with the Women's Resource Center to link theoretical
perspectives gained in the classroom to practical work on women's issues in


the center, surrounding communities, and beyond.
