The papers for the Open Meeting of the Human Dimensions of Global Change
Community, which was held in Rio in October are available on the web at:

The papers at the sessions I was able to attend were of very high quality.

Richard York, Gene Rosa and I presented a paper entitled "Ecological
Democracy and Sustainable Development."  We propose a measure of sustainable
development and examine the social structural and political economic factors
required for sustainable development.  This is a preliminary argument and
analysis, so we would be grateful for comments and suggestions.  (Note that
I
was responsible for the transfer to the website, so my co-authors are
innocent of any typos, etc.)
