The Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources at North Carolina
State University invites applicants for a* 9-month, tenure-track position
in Watershed Hydrology*. The appointment is 45% research, 45% teaching, and
10% service. We seek a candidate with training in hydrology who studies
watershed processes broadly defined, which may include a number of research
approaches. A background in geospatial technologies, use of large-scale
watershed models, and/or expertise in collection of field data is highly
desired. Interest in creating a strong research program focusing on water
resources and their interaction with terrestrial ecosystems is expected.

*Teaching and Mentoring Responsibilities:*

   - Teach established courses in the natural resources, environmental
   technology and management, and environmental science undergraduate
   curricula.
   - Teaching one course on field methods of physical hydrology
   - Teaching additional courses relevant to students across the curricula,
   such as remote sensing techniques of large-scale hydrological patterns.
   - Teach or co-teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and
   will be responsible for advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate
   students in the department.



*Research Responsibilities:*

   - Develop an internationally recognized, collaborative, and externally
   funded research program.
   - Potential research topics include, but are not restricted to: water
   supply and quality; urban hydrology/water sustainability; flood risk
   assessment and management; watershed characterization; plant-water-soil
   interactions at hillslope and watershed scales; geospatial analytics for
   water resources; sociohydrology, climate and environmental justice.


*Service Responsibilities:*

   - Serve on academic committees (at the department, college, and
   university levels)
   - Engage with students through clubs, undergraduate research, or other
   extracurricular activities Participate in professional society activities.
   - Qualifications
   -

   Minimum Education and Experience
   Doctoral degree in hydrology or other water resources related field
   (including engineering, natural resources, forestry, geospatial analytics,
   environmental sciences, others).
   Other Required Qualifications
   The candidate must have:
   - A proven track record of research including peer-reviewed publications;
      - Demonstrated experience or potential to attract external funding;
      - Demonstrated experience with teaching and mentoring, and desire to
      teach and mentor at both undergraduate and graduate levels;
      - Excellent oral and written communication skills;
      - Desire to collaborate in teaching, research, and service missions
      of NC State.
   Preferred Qualifications
      - At least two years of post-doctoral experience;
      - PhD in hydrology or other field relevant to Forestry and
      Environmental Resources
