Colleagues:

The ESA's Eugene P. Odum Award recognizes an ecologist for
outstanding work in ecology education. Through teaching, outreach and
mentoring, recipients "demonstrate their ability to relate basic
ecological principles to human affairs". Recent recipients include
Alan Berkowitz, Richard Root and James Porter.

This year we are especially seeking nominations for women and for
individuals from underrepresented groups. Awards are given for a
broad range of work including K-12 and informal (e.g. museums,
nonprofits) education. Nominees must have a broad, national presence.

Nomination procedures have been streamlined. To initiate the
process, send the name of your nominee to Charlene D'Avanzo
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) with a short paragraph supporting your
choice.

Please take the time to participate in this important award. We all
recognize the critical role of ecology/environmental education today
and this is one way we can make that statement loud and clear.

Thanks so much,
--
Charlene
