*SYMPOSIUM ATTRACTS TOP ECOLOGISTS TO SPEAK ABOUT GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE

AND CONSERVATION*
 
*COLLEGE STATION, TX* - Nov. 9, 2005 -Texas A&M University's nationally

recognized Ecological Integration Symposium has invited top ecologists

and policy scientists to discuss the effects of global climate change
on 
biodiversity and ecology for the past seven years.  This year's 
Ecological Integration Symposium, entitled "Biodiversity, Ecology & 
Global Climate Change," is scheduled for /*March 31, 2006*/ and has 
confirmed the following speakers to date:
 
    * _Dr. Lee Hannah_ is a Senior Fellow at Conservation
International
      and the Co-Leader for the Center for Applied Biodiversity
      Sciences/The Nature Conservancy Climate Change Initiative. His
      work includes modeling plant distributions in biodiversity
      hotspots and developing conservation responses to climate
change.
    * _Dr. Susan Kilham_ is Professor of Biology and Environmental
      Science at Drexel University focusing on aquatic ecology.  She
      investigates climate change in the large lakes of the
Yellowstone
      Ecosystem.
    * _Dr. Joel Scheraga_ is the Global Change Research Program
National
      Program Director for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's
      National Center for Environmental Assessment.  Dr. Scheraga's
      directs assessments of the potential impacts of climate change
and
      climate variability on human health, the environment, and the
U.S.
      economy.
    * _Dr. Daniel Schindler_ is an Associate Professor in the School
of
      Aquatic and Fishery Sciences & Department of Biology, University
      of Washington. He research in the Pacific Northwest examines the
      effects of watershed development on the food webs of lakes and
UV
      radiation on the spatial distribution of amphibians in the
Pacific
      Northwest.
 

According to Dr. Robert D. Brown, Head of the Department of Wildlife
and 
Fisheries Sciences and the Director of the Institute of Renewable 
Natural Resources at Texas A&M University: "This is the 7th year our 
graduate students have organized this symposium and it is gaining in 
national attention.  It is unique in that it attracts renowned 
ecologists while being entirely organized, run and funded by the
efforts 
of our graduate students.  This year's focus on global warming is 
especially pertinent and timely."
 
The Ecological Integration Symposium is a free event that attracts up
to 
500 attendees and will take place between /8 AM and 5 PM/ on Texas A&M

University's main campus.
