Field Station Manager, Martin Center for Field Studies and Environmental Education
The Department of Biology of the University of Akron is seeking a field station manager for the newly acquired Martin Center for Field Studies and Environmental Education, located on the 400 acre Bath Nature Preserve. In addition to primary use by The Department of Biology, the preserve and field station are used by a variety of departments, including Geology, Geography and Planning, and Anthropology for both research and environmental education classes. The successful applicant will have a Masters or PhD degree in a field of environmental science or biology and will be responsible for: 1) Oversight of field station building maintenance, including care and maintenance of research and teaching equipment, 2) coordinating and participating in research/teaching activities at the station and on the nature preserve, and 3) promoting development of the station according to its combined mission of teaching, research and outreach. Preference will be given to candidates with proven teaching experience, especially in the area of biological and field/environmental studies.
