Graduate Fellowship Positions in Ecological Genomics at Kansas State University
Graduate Fellowships are available for admission in Fall 2006 to participate in this newly emerging field at the interface of ecology and genomics. This research initiative will link responses of living systems to environmental change at the genetic level. The overarching goal of this research initiative is to identify the genes that are involved in organismal responses to the environment. This Ecological Genomics initiative takes advantage of existing strengths at Kansas State University in genetics and genomics, ecology and evolutionary biology to answer cross-cutting questions that lie at the interface of genomics and ecology. This collaborative research effort will cross disciplines (genetics and ecology) and departments. In addition, this initiative will also take advantage of experimental manipulations at the Konza Prairie Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) site. Research and education opportunities exist for Graduate Students to work towards an MS or PhD degree in this large collaborative and interdisciplinary effort. More information about the Kansas Ecological Genomics collaborative research groups at Kansas State University can be found at www.ksu.edu/ecogen. Twenty faculty with interests spanning from genetics and genomics of model organisms (Arabidopsis, C. elegans, Drosophila) to microbial, plant and animal organismic biology, and ecosystem ecology are involved in this new research initiative. Applicants should have the interest and willingness to cross disciplines. Completed applications must be received by January 15, 2006. For more information on how to apply, visit our website at www.k-state.edu/ecogen/recruit-GradStudentsApplication.html. Supported by Targeted Excellence at Kansas State University. KSU is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and actively seeks diversity among its employees.
