MAJOR DUTIES: The incumbent serves as a team member on the Exotic Plan
Management Team and performs duties as assigned by the Team Liaison or Team
Leader. Supports park personnel with weed identification, inventory and
monitoring methods, and chemical and non-chemical control methods.
Supports the Team on the identification, treatment, and removal of exotic
plant species as identified and prioritized by the parks. Supports and
advocates for the safety of the team and park employees as well as ensuring
that all members follow established program protocols. Supports the
training, storage, and safe operation and use of respirators, chain saws,
personal protective equipment and other equipment as required. Supports
on-the-job training for team and park personnel in the areas of inventory
and monitoring and operational control of exotic plants. Supports site
restoration work including seedbed preparation, planting and initial
maintenance.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: For the GS-5 level, applicant must have
one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level or
successful completion of a full 4-year course of study above high school
leading to a bachelorâs degree with major study or at least 24 semester
hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as
biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany,
physics, agriculture, or mathematics. For the GS-6 and GS-7 level:
applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at
least the next lower grade level or one full year of graduate education.
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the
particular knowledge skills, and abilities (KSAâs) to perform successfully
the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work
of the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying specialized
experience include: research activity or control program work; nursery work
that required the growing and maintenance of plants in a controlled
environment.
