Apologies for cross postings...

Amphibian Disease Diagnostics
The Society for Northwestern Vertebrate Biology (SNVB) and Pacific Northwest
Amphibian and Reptile Consortium (PNARC) are presenting a dynamic workshop
on field indicators of amphibian parasites and pathogens. We will provide
participants with greater understanding of amphibian disease ecology, and
tools to recognize parasites and pathogens in the field. Topics include
water mold (Saprolegnia ferax), chytrid (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis),
nematodes and trematodes, and viruses. The workshop will be presented in
three parts: lecture session, small group labs and panel discussion.
Lectures will address disease ecology, amphibian declines and conservation.
The labs will provide a hands-on opportunity for participants to observe
specimens. Collection techniques and specimen preservation will also be
covered. We will close with a short panel discussion including all of the
presenters. Target participants include biologists, technicians, land
managers and students. Space is limited. SNVB or WA TWS members and those
conducting amphibian work in the Pacific Northwest will be given
registration priority.
