Job Announcement, Disease Ecology, Spring-Fall 2006 Full-time, temporary (approximately mid May to mid November), paid, Project Assistants needed for research on the ecology of Lyme disease in New York's Hudson River Valley. Research in the laboratory of Richard S. Ostfeld focuses on the relationships among mammalian and avian communities, ticks, bacteria, and Lyme disease risk. Duties include live-trapping small mammals, point-count estimates of songbird abundance, sampling abundance of ticks, and laboratory assays of tick infection with the Lyme-disease bacterium. Work is conducted in small teams within forested sites in Dutchess County, NY. Field research involves early morning and late afternoon hours and moderately strenuous activities.
