Hi all, I am looking for a temporary field assistant to help me this March and April start a large scale study of germination traits in native California annual plants. The position pays and covers room and board while in the field. The position is short but would be a great opportunity for a senior undergraduate or starting graduate student interested in checking out potential field sites in California. I will consider people interested in working for one to two week chunks of time spent in particular regions of California as well as for the entire study.
The work will involve helping identify native CA annual plant species and collecting soil core samples at 15 sites throughout California. The work is part of a large-scale study of seed banks and germination cues in 70 annual plant species native to California. Field sites include 11 University of California Field Stations and 4-5 other reserves. We will not spend more than 2 days at any one reserve but it will be an extensive survey of many California ecosystems. The field stations I will be working at are found mostly around Mendocino and the Northern Napa Valley, Big Sur, Santa Barbara and San Diego. If you are interested, please e-mail me at: [EMAIL PROTECTED] before March 6. (With your e-mail please attach a CV). I am going to be out of e-mail contact from February 17 through March 6 but will contact interested individuals when I return from my trip and have access to e-mail again. Thank you, Margie
