For an very interesting portrayal of where we stand in the Age of Oil by distinguished petroleum geologist Kennety Deffeyes, take a look at the following web page:
http://www.princeton.edu/hubbert/current-events.html As many know, this claim, if proved true over time, has profound implications, not only for the oil industry (Deffeyes is a petroleum geologist), but for the future of civilization as we have known it as well as the natural world that has been so impacted by our worldwide oil-driven civiilization. My personal view is that if Deffeyes is incorrect, it is probably by a relatively insignificant factor. I am now reading "Beyond Oil" by the same author and I find his writing style to be direct, forceful and persuasive. The book starts with the somewhat familiar quotation by Kenneth E. Boulding: "Anyone who believes that exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist." Stan Moore San Geronimo, CA [EMAIL PROTECTED]
