Title: Small Mammal Field Assistant
Agency: California State University Fullerton Location: Pawnee National Grasslands, CO Job Description: Seeking an outgoing, motivated individual to assist in behavioral study of the thirteen-lined ground squirrel. Assistant will be needed from July 1 to mid-August to assist with radio-telemetry of juvenile ground squirrels and live-trapping. Squirrels will be monitored during the day (home range) and at night (night-time refuge). This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain radio-telemetry and GPS experience, as well as experience marking and handling small mammals. The work may involve long hours, sometimes in inclement weather. Qualifications: No experience necessary but priority will be given to those with small mammal handling/radio-telemetry experience. Must be able to hike long distances under strenuous conditions for up to 10 miles a day. Experience with 4-wheel drive a plus and a valid driver's license is a must= . Must be hardworking, good-natured and love working in the outdoors and able to live in close living quarters with several other researchers.
