Full-time Summer Position for Undergraduate Student or Recent Graduate
We are seeking a highly responsible individual to conduct field studies as part of the Leon River Restoration Project in central Texas. The Leon River Restoration project is an ongoing watershed-scale research project on private lands investigating potential changes in the quality and quantity of water through removal of juniper, while improving wildlife habitat and forage production for livestock. This person will primarily participate in the water quantity component of the project, under direct supervision of Dr. Georgianne Moore in the department of Rangeland Ecology and Management. Work consists primarily of soil and plant sampling and analysis, with some additional experience with stream flow and weather monitoring. Successful candidates will gain valuable field work skills and exposure to a wide array of research methods. Applicants must be able to conduct physical work in adverse weather conditions and willing to spend 18+ nights a month on site in Pearl, TX (population ~125). Housing will be provided at no cost and available for the entire summer. Deadline for applications is March 27th.
