Conference Announcement and Call for Abstracts
The 1st Biennial Conference of the International EcoHealth Association: Forging Collaboration Between Health and Ecology October 7th-10th 2006 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Meeting Theme: Promoting Global Health - Sustaining Natural Resources International EcoHealth Association The EcoHealth Network formed in 2003 as an organization of collaborating consortia, institutions, and individual journal subscribers. The Network promotes collaboration amongst the fields of ecology, health and sustainability. The EcoHealth ONE conference will represent a reformulation of the EcoHealth Network as the International EcoHealth Association. Keynote Speakers http://www.ecohealth.net/Conference/site/ Content areas and who should attend This conference is expected to attract participants from around the world, including researchers, educators, policy makers and representatives of academia, government, NGOs, and international agencies. Experts from the fields of medicine, public health, wildlife and veterinary medicine, urban planning, conservation biology, ecology, geography, economics, sociology, environmental history, medical history, agronomy, and other disciplines will convene to better understand the linkages between ecology and health. We are not only interested in abstracts on research and training in current issues bridging ecology and health, but also historical papers or case studies that might inform current research questions, directions, and policy addressing human or wildlife health problems stemming from ecological disturbance (see list of Preliminary Sessions.) Because the integrity of human health, wildlife health, and ecosystems are closely tied, EcoHealth ONE will provide a unique forum to (1) advance emerging, highly interdisciplinary scientific work in this arena, (2) promote the interaction of a diverse audience concerned with sustainable health and environment, and (3) consider how to address challenges in an effective and unified way. Abstract Submission We are currently accepting abstracts for the 2006 EcoHealth ONE conference. Abstracts can be submitted via e- mail, postal mail, or fax. Please see the Abstract Submission Page for more information. The deadline for oral presentation abstracts is April 15. Late abstracts will be reviewed but subject to harsher standards of acceptance.
