Eight to ten volunteer positions are open from 15 August to 31 October = 2006 at the American Museum of Natural History's Southwestern Research = Station in Portal, Arizona. The Station is located in the scenic = Chiricahua Mountains of Southeast Arizona, which rise from broad valleys = to heights of nearly 9,800 ft. Within a short drive, one can encounter = five life zones and their unique biota. The volunteer program is run = annually and offers students and naturalists outstanding opportunities = to hike, bird, or just enjoy the many wonders of one of the world=92s = Biodiversity Hotspots. Food and lodging are provided to volunteers in = exchange for 24 hours/week of routine chores, with remaining time = available for personal activities. The minimum appointment is six = weeks. =20
