Biosphere Reserve of the Peruvian Amazon.Learn to survive fieldwork
challenges in the tropical rainforest and carry out ethnobotanical and
conservation research with indigenous Amazonian communities. 
10 days intensive training in wilderness first aid, leadership, group
dynamics, field research skills, introductory tropical ecology and canopy ascent
17 days carrying out guided research with native Matsigenka informants and
taking coursework on ethnobotany, theory and methods in ethnobiology,
cultural ecology, tropical botany and ecology, biodiversity conservation and
community-based resource management.

Course Aims:
To supply young scientists with a unique blend of skills necessary to carry
out ethnobotanical and conservation research with traditional forest peoples
of the Amazon.
To immerse participants in the tropical rainforest and the native peoples of
Manu National Park, providing hands-on training opportunities with
experienced researchers Shepard and Yu, and with Matsigenka indigenous
informants themselves.
