A 4-year PhD position is available in Dr. Matt Cohen's Forest Water Resources Laboratory in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation at the University of Florida. The successful candidate will study Newnan's Lake and its watershed in North Central Florida (just east of Gainesville), emphasizing watershed nutrient/hydrologic budgeting, subsurface/fugitive load mapping, and wetland autopurification processes.
In addition to project specific sampling and analysis, the PhD student will have the opportunity to design additional experiments to study nutrient dynamics, land use change and management strategies at the basin scale. Qualifications: We are expecting to hire someone with a Masters degree in wetland/ecosystem science, biogeochemistry, or related field. Experience with GIS and soil/water chemistry is desirable.
