Truman and Anita Arnold
Chair of Computer and Information Sciences


Texas A&M University-Texarkana (A&M-Texarkana) invites nominations and =
applications for the position of Truman and Anita Arnold Chair of =
Computer and Information Sciences. The successful candidate will serve =
as chair of the Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) program and =
participate in the development of undergraduate and graduate CIS courses =
and coordinate the accreditation of the program. Activities will include =
undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and other duties assigned =
by the Dean. Computer related courses have been offered for some time at =
A&M-Texarkana, but the new Bachelor of Science degree in CIS will offer =
an even richer mix of computer courses and research to meet current and =
future demands.=20

        Minimum qualifications:
             Candidate must have:=20
*       An earned doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a =
closely related computer field.=20
*       A record of research and refereed publications.=20
*       Active involvement in professional organizations.=20
*       A demonstrated ability to acquire external funding and research =
grants.=20
*       Effective communication skills. (both written and oral).=20

        The Preferred candidate will have:=20
*       Extensive business and/or government experience.=20
*       A record of teaching in academia and/or industry.=20
*       Experience in student recruiting.=20
*       Experience in building and guiding a flourishing research group.=20
*       Research experience in computer related fields such as robotics, cyber =
security, communications and/or wireless and digital networks and =
information systems management.=20
*       Experience in educational administration.=20
*       Experience with ABET and/or other accreditation organizations.=20

The University and Community:  The University and Community: The =
University is a member of The Texas A&M University System and is a =
regional institution serving Texarkana, Northeast Texas, Southwest =
Arkansas and Southeast Oklahoma. It is currently an upper division =
university offering baccalaureate and graduate degree programs. The =
State has authorized the University to offer lower division courses when =
the new campus at Bringle Lake is opened. Texarkana is located =
approximately halfway between Dallas, Texas and Little Rock, Arkansas. =
The city serves as a primary financial, educational, cultural, retail =
and medical center for a service region with a population of more than =
500,000. A&M-Texarkana currently has an academic enrollment of =

Anticipated start date:  January 15, 2006

Salary:  The salary is nationally competitive and commensurate with =
qualifications and experience.
