The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Wildlife and Heritage
Service is currently accepting applications for a seasonal (8 months)
Natural Resources Technician III in the Landowner Incentive Program.
This program provides financial and technical assistance to landowners
to restore habitat for rare, threatened, and endangered species in
Maryland.  The Natural Resources Technician will assist in
administration of the program through landowner outreach, database
maintenance, general record-keeping activities, and other related office
tasks, and will also assist with field work (e.g., habitat restoration
and species monitoring activities). =20


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:     =20

Completion of sixty credit hours from an accredited college or
university, 18 of which are in biology, biochemistry, environmental
science, forest technology, arboriculture, aquaculture, natural science,
natural resources management, botany, marine biology, marine ecology,
physical oceanography, ichthyology, fisheries management, wildlife
management, zoology, or a natural resources management related field of
study.

Experience:   =20

Two years of experience in technical biological work in the field of
natural resources management.

Notes:=20

1.  Additional experience performing technical biological work in the
field of forestry, arboriculture, wildlife, aquaculture, natural
resources management, or fisheries may be substituted on a year-for-year
basis for the required education.

2.  Additional education beyond sixty credit hours from an accredited
college or university in a natural resources related field of study can
be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis for
up to two years of experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

=20
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Access;

Knowledge of natural resources conservation and management principles
and practices;

Ability to perform field assignments and related office work with other
employees;

Ability to conduct surveys for rare plants and animals;

Ability to communicate effectively;

Ability to balance multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
Willingness to work outside in uncomfortable conditions (heat and high
humidity, stinging/biting insects, briars).
