To Whomever Can Help, I am a PhD student conducting research on the effects of fire on ungulates in East Africa. As part of my research I would like to test for differences in parasite numbers in burned and unburned areas. Specifically, I would like to study both gastrointestinal parasites and flies. I would like to test for gastrointestinal parasites in fecal samples and on grass samples. Ideally I would like to collect the samples and bring them back to the states for analysis. I was wondering if any one had done such sampling and could give me recommendations for procedures to use, collection methods, and preservation methods? For flies I would like to set up traps in both burned and unburned areas and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for fly trapping methods or good resources for that information?
