=20 Project Description: This study will examine the influence of local and landscape-level variables on migrant shorebirds in the Mixed-Grass Prairie Region of Oklahoma. The objectives of the study are to determine relative abundances, species compositions, and migration chronologies of shorebirds using isolated wetlands; determine habitat selection of migrant shorebirds; evaluate habitat characteristics and invertebrate availabilities of isolated wetlands used by migrant shorebirds; characterize shorebird habitat-use patterns at 2 spatial scales (local [wetland-level] and landscape scales); and develop shorebird habitat models based on scale-level analyses. One Ph.D. assistantship is available for this study. This position is through Oklahoma Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and Department of Zoology at Oklahoma State University.
