New Microbial Ecology Section of ESA

The year’s Annual Meeting of ESA will mark the beginning of a new ESA section.
The Microbial
Ecology section was established this year to promote research and education
regarding the ecology
of microorganisms and to encourage the integration of microbial ecology into
the general study of
ecology. The inaugural symposium of this section (entitled “Integrating
microbial ecology into the
general science of ecology: opportunities and challenges”) will be held on
Monday August 7 from 8 –
11:30AM in Ballroom B of the Cook Convention Center. It will feature talks
from John Andrews, Jim
Brown, Jef Huisman, Andrew Martin, Jennifer Hughes, and Jim Tiedje. The first
business meeting of
the section will follow this symposium in the same room. Please join us to
discuss the future of
microbial ecology in ESA.

See you in Memphis!

Brendan Bohannan
Interim Chairperson
