My field season is wrapping up and I am losing all my student help prior to
my last trip into the field. I am looking for one or two students, post
students, and others interested in climate change research that would like
to assist with a project to assist me on my last trip. The work will be
collecting my last round of LAI-2000 Leaf Area Index (LAI) and fraction of
absorbed PAR by the vegetation (FPAR) data within my wildfire chronosequence
sites up in Thompson Manitoba Canada. Of course this is in the heart of the
boreal forest and will require a 2 day drive both there and back to the
field site.

The research is dealing with remotely monitoring vegetation phenology and
the light harvesting potential of the vegetation strata within the sites.
The questions asked are those directly related to climate change and its
impacts on boreal vegetation and wildfire disturbance regime. The work will
be not a 40/ hour per week situation but instead work when weather permits,
ect until finished. I can pay you 8.00/hour (slightly negotiable) and your
lodging is taken care of in Thompson as well as on the way there and back if
needed. Other secondary duties will be collecting data on the moss/ground
cover layer as well as downloding data loggers that are monitoring
vegetation phenology. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would
like to come with. I would like to leave by the 16th or 17th of this month
and I expect to return no later than August 30th/31st.
