The Water Supply Engineering (WSE) and Water Pollution Control (WPC)
Technical Committees of the Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Council
(WWSC) have recently established a Task Committee on Endocrine
Disrupting Compounds (EDCs). EDCs are chemicals which can mimic or
block the action of natural hormones.

The EDC Task Committee is working to present a symposium and paper
sessions at the 2007 EWRI Congress in Tampa, Florida on the topic of
EDCs in the environment as well as treatment techniques being developed.
The abstract deadline is September 15, 2006.

Abstracts from our multidisciplinary community are welcomed. ASCE/EWRI
membership is not necessary. On-line abstract submission is required
and easy at www.asce.org/conferences/ewri2007
<http://www.asce.org/conferences/ewri2007>. Abstracts should be in
English and no longer than 500 words. Authors whose abstracts are
accepted and who submit a final paper are expected to attend the congress.

The committee encourages presentation of student research on EDCs. One
prize at the undergraduate level and one at the graduate level will be
presented at the Tampa meeting.
