I am a graduate student who has used Didinium in experiments to investigate
various aspects of predator-prey theory.

I currently have an undergraduate student who is interested in answering
some questions about long-term evolution of Didinium's capture efficiency
under laboratory culturing. We are hoping someone knows the answer to this
question:

Are all current Didinium stocks from some singular lab source culture
(presumably going back to Gause?), or can Didinium easily be found in pond
water (suggesting at least the potential for contrasting lab versus wild
strains)?

ALSO, if you are a person who has maintained a stock culture of Didinium and
wouldn't mind sending us a sample to include in our study, please get in
touch.

Please reply directly to me and I will do the usual digest once I get
responses.

Thanks!
