Position Announcement Program Dean=20 The School for Field Studies Salem, Massachusetts =20 The School for Field Studies (SFS) seeks an energetic and enthusiastic Program Dean to join our Headquarters Team.=20 You will work for and with the President, a dynamic team of Salem-based staff, as well as the Center Directors and faculty members of our five field centers in Australia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Kenya and the Turks & Caicos Islands.=20 =20 Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to assess, evaluate and manage program quality. =20 The Program Dean provides leadership and directs implementation and evaluation of Center five year=20 research plans, supports Center Directors and faculty to deliver the teaching and research program=20 content for semester and summer programs, and disseminates information about academic program content and quality among SFS departments, SFS affiliates, and our primary accrediting institution, Boston University. =20 =20 Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in natural resource management, environmental science, conservation biology, or tropical ecology. Applied, international community-based research and field experience. University teaching and curriculum development experience. Demonstrated ability to support academic and research programs in remote locations. Spanish language skills =20 Other Expectations: Demonstrated commitment to environmental issues. Strong written and verbal skills. Willingness to work flexible hours. Willingness to have a flexible travel schedule (including some weekends) Ability to travel internationally (at least 40%) to support field-based academic programs. Ability to communicate effectively with multi-cultural staff.
