Position:               Manu Learning Centre Facility Manager
Salary:                 $12k per annum + benefits (accommodation, food &

Organisation Background:        

The Rainforest Education & Resource Centre, (CREES in Spanish) is a
non-profit organisation whose mission is to provide long-term solutions for
the management of tropical rainforests through conservation, sustainable
development and education.  Working in the South Eastern Peruvian Amazon in
the Manu Biosphere Reserve, CREES currently manages a 643-hectare
conservation reserve and a research and training facility called the Manu
Learning Centre (MLC).

Position:

CREES is seeking a Research Facility Manger to manage all operations and
administrative work undertaken by CREES at the MLC. Reporting directly to
the Cusco Manager and the Executive Director, the Research Facility Manager
will be based at the facility itself and will be responsible not only for
general administration but also for the development of the MLC as a
pioneering centre of sustainability.

Qualifications:

·       Relevant background in administration of a tourism facility or related
discipline.
·       Bachelors or Masters Degree in relevant field
·       Management and/or administrative experience
·       Fluent in Spanish & English (oral & written)
·       Experience of living in a tropical rainforest
·       Demonstration of good people management skills
·       Strong team player with a creative approach to problem solving

Responsibilities:

·       Daily administration of the Manu Learning Centre facility and staff
·       Managment of MLC budget and expenditure
·       Management & supervision of all clients and visitors to the MLC 
including:
o       Client orientation
o       Client logistical organisation & planning (transport, expeditions etc)
o       Client hospitality 
o       Client health & safety
o       Management of the MLC bar
o       To assume the daily responsibilities of the Conservation Projects 
Manager
when they are absent
·       Creation, development and maintenance of sustainable micro-projects at 
the
MLC that can be replicated in local communities
·       Coordination with the conservation manager on land invasion issues
·       Submission of monthly reports to CREES Senior Management
