Do you design and implement Citizen Science projects, or are you
interested in doing so?

If so, we at the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology need your help! We
have received funding from the National Science Foundation to build
community support for emerging and existing citizen science projects.

As stage 1 of our project, we are seeking input from the growing
community of citizen science practitioners.

*If you coordinate a North American citizen science project, please help
our project get under way by completing an online survey:
*
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=282972629584

Your responses to this survey will help us as we:

1. Compile a comprehensive, online, searchable database of North
American citizen science projects and reference materials.

2. Create a "Citizen Science Toolkit," designed to help individuals and
organizations develop, implement, and evaluate citizen science projects
across disciplines.

3. Identify citizen science practitioners (maybe you?) who will be
invited to attend a conference in June, 2007, which will discuss,
revise, and launch the Toolkit for widespread use by the informal
science community.

We hope that this project will foster a supportive and innovative
community of citizen science practitioners and encourage dialog around
program ideas and advancements.

/If you are interested in, but not yet administering, citizen science
projects you can email Jennifer Shirk, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> to receive more information on the Toolkit
project./

*If you are operating a North American citizen science project of any
size, and in any* *discipline, please help this effort by visiting our
survey at the following address:
*
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=282972629584

Completing the survey should take only about 15-20 minutes, and can be
done all at once or over several visits to the site.

Also, please forward this message to colleagues, as your connections are
the only way we can ensure that our database becomes as comprehensive
and diverse as possible.

If you have any questions about the survey or the toolkit project,
please email project manager Jennifer Shirk at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you!
