A PhD position is available beginning in the=20 spring of 2007 to work with an inter-disciplinary=20 team examining genetic and environmental effects=20 on lake sturgeon early life history traits and=20 recruitment under field and experimental=20 conditions. We are looking to recruit a student=20 with interests in conducting field and laboratory=20 research, with quantitative skills and interests=20 in population ecology, genetics, and=20 behavior. Opportunities exist to expand existing=20 studies to examine aspects of the species=92 mating=20 system and to estimate the impacts of=20 differential recruitment to cohort levels of=20 coancestry and long-term population=20 viability. The research is part of a long-term=20 project directed by Michigan State University and=20 the Michigan Department of Natural=20 Resources. The study area is located in the=20 northern lower peninsula of Michigan on the Black=20 River.
