Stan, there's an article on this in today's The Oregonian newspaper: http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/news/11700393031114 30.xml&coll=7

With all the bird feeders distributing wild bird seed and pigeon keepers feeding grain formulas to those birds, a lot of that seed must get spilled and some must germinate. Does anyone know of case histories where such germinated exotic plants spread into ecologically significant distributions? The reason I ask is that I am using pigeons as bait in a raptor trapping/banding program and wonder if spilled feed poses a real threat to a wild area I am working in which has been subject to problems from invasive thistles, which presumably are not contained in bird seed or pigeon feed. Thanks for any informed advice.
