AVIAN FIELD TECHNICIANS (3) needed to assist with=20
a grassland bird research project in NW Iowa=20
evaluating bird responses to restoration=20
plantings of varying plant species=20
diversity.  Positions start 23 April 2007 =96 7 May=20
2007 and end 7 August 2007 =96 17 August 2007.

Duties include conducting bird surveys, marking=20
survey transects, nest searching and monitoring,=20
bird banding, vegetation surveys, insect sweep=20
net sampling, and locating radio-collared=20
birds.  Additional duties may include data entry=20
and sorting insect samples.  Field work will be=20
conducted in restored grasslands and applicants=20
must have the physical ability to work long hours=20
outdoors and walk through thick vegetation and=20
uneven terrain.  Applicants must be willing to=20
work during the early morning hours and tolerate=20
a variety of weather conditions.  Qualified=20
applicants must have the ability to identify=20
grassland birds by sight and sound.  Other=20
requirements include the ability to work=20
independently or as part of a team and a strong=20
work ethic.  Applicants must have a valid=20
driver=92s license.  Strong applicants will have=20
experience with bird banding, radio-telemetry,=20
bird surveys, identifying native prairie plants,=20
nest searching, and handling nestlings.

The pay rate is $10.00 per hour/approximately 40=20
hours per week.  Housing and vehicles for=20
project-related travel will be provided.  Some=20
flexibility in start or end dates may be=20
