REU position available
University of Notre Dame -Aquatic Ecology
Dr. David Lodge

The lab of Dr. David Lodge is seeking an REU student to develop and conduct
a study of the invasive Chinese Mystery Snail (CMS) in lakes and streams of
northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (funding pending). The
project will investigate the mechanisms that allow CMS to establish
populations and reach high densities. The student will gain experience in
all facets of the research process including literature search and
subsequent development of research questions, field and/or lab work to
answer those questions, and statistical analysis of experimental work.
Several participants of a larger, multidisciplinary project team will mentor
the REU student. The student will receive a competitive stipend and housing
at the University of Notre Dame Environmental Research Center will be
provided. The project will take place from early June to mid August 2007.
Although previous aquatic experience is desired, it is not required. To
apply, please email a resume and cover letter, along with three references
