Ph.D. Graduate Assistantship in Forest Ecology/Silviculture A PhD position is available beginning summer/fall 2007 for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work on a long-term northern hardwoods silviculture research project at Michigan Technological University. Northern hardwoods are a dominant forest type across the Great Lakes states, and are typically managed with uneven-aged techniques. An opportunity exists to remeasure a long-term cutting trial on the School's Forest (at the Ford Forestry Center), and aid in setting up the next series of treatments. Other long-term research sites, including premier old-growth, may be included in the study. The position includes serving as a teaching assistant for a semester-long integrated field practicum, also held at the School's Forest. Room and board are included in the funding package, along with tuition, fees, and stipend.
