Chicago Botanic Garden in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management is
looking for a botanist with herbarium management skills. The position is
located at the BLM Idaho State Office, in Boise, Idaho.
Internship begins mid July and lasts for 5 months.
Compensation is $750 each two weeks.
We are looking for a recent graduate with a botany background who is
interested in herbarium collections management, database development and
technical writing. Familiarity with lichens and bryology a plus. Some
opportunities to participate in field work will be available, but this is
primarily an office oriented position.
Desired Skills:
· Ability to press, mount and catalogue herbarium vouchers
· Ability to build a Microsoft Access and Excel database
· Good technical writing skills
· Interests in lichens and bryology
Requirements:
· BS or BA in Plant Biology or Ecology with a botanical focus
· US citizen or current visa to work in US
· Valid drivers license
· Vehicle needed for personal use, work vehicle is provided
