Environmental Concern Inc. Presents.
Hydric Soils This course will introduce non-soil scientists to basic soil mapping techniques, resources and tool to better perform hydric soil determinations and field delineations, using standard techniques of soil science. The course will first help build a solid soil science foundation including soil nomenclature, how to effectively use USDA Soil Surveys, and understanding current digital trends in soil mapping (GIS and GPS devices and software). To this foundation will be added the concepts of hydric soil formation, identification and the relationship between hydrology, landscape, vegetation and hydric soils. Participants will then practically apply classroom lessons in the field while visiting a variety of different wetland types.
