Restoration Ecologist - The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy seeks a highly motivated Restoration Ecologist
to lead, conduct, and support a range of ecological restoration
initiatives in New Hampshire's most biologically significant
terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems. Restoration
activities will be driven by a clearly demonstrated need to enhance
and maintain the viability of degraded species, natural communities,
and systems of conservation concern.

Key responsibilities include: Developing the scientific underpinnings
and rationale for determining restoration needs and designing
restoration projects; Technical restoration planning including
development of detailed workplans, timelines, personnel needs, and
budgets; Leading and supporting the implementation of restoration
projects; and Designing and helping to implement field-based and
remote sensing monitoring to evaluate success and inform adaptive
management. Position will work closely with staff to identify funding
sources, write grant proposals, and manage and report out on
grant-funded projects. Will work closely with science, stewardship
and land protection staff and will require frequent contact with
partners, field staff, academic researchers, local communities, and
other stakeholders.

Successful candidate will be experienced in restoration ecology, an
effective communicator, organized and attentive to detail, and
interested and willing to spend significant time in the field.

Requires:

-Commitment to the biodiversity conservation mission of TNC.
-Master's degree in natural sciences, wildlife biology, landscape
ecology, or field relevant to natural resources conservation.
-3 years experience in conservation, resource management, or related
field.
-Knowledge of current trends and practices
-Ability/willingness to understand and apply science to inform
decision-making.
-Analytical skills including manipulating, analyzing, and
interpreting statistical data.
-Managing time and diverse activities under deadlines while
delivering quality results
-Willingness and ability to continue to advance in the face of
adversity or setback
-Strong drive for results, Demonstrated initiative, Strong leadership
capabilities.
-Sound word processing, spreadsheet, web, and literature research
skills.
-Excellent communication skills via written, spoken and graphical
means.
