The incumbent will serve in this dual role, with the Assistant Commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry serving under the direction of the statewide elected Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry. =20 This position serves as the chief executive officer of the Louisiana Office of Forestry, one of seven Offices within the Department of Agriculture and Forestry. The Office of Forestry employs approximately 325 personnel and has an annual operating budget of over $20,000,000. The State Forester/Assistant Commissioner has responsibility for the overall direction and management of the Office of Forestry and ensures that the mission, goals and objectives, and funding are adequate to further the forest industry in Louisiana. =20 Minimum qualifications for the position, as stated in Louisiana Revised Statutes, R.S.3:4275, are 'the State Forester shall be a graduate of forestry from an accredited school having at least four years of forestry experience in the South."
