THEME ISSUE: "Incorporating climate change into endangered species =
conservation"

=20

A theme issue of fast growing conservation journal Endangered Species =
Research (ESR) http://www.int-res.com/journals/esr/ focusing on =
"Incorporating climate change into endangered species conservation" is =
in preparation for publication mid 2008. As the spectre of climate =
change moves from a point of debate to an accepted reality, there is a =
need to incorporate it into all aspects of human activity. This is =
especially true of conservation efforts aimed at management and recovery =
of endangered species and habitats. How will the fundamental biology of =
target species change? What will be the effect of predicted extreme =
weather events? Will extant protected areas still function? How will =
societal adaptive changes such as renewable energy generation affect =
species already of conservation concern? Does our existing policy =
framework need to be remodeled? Manuscripts addressing these and related =
topics are welcomed, whether they be original articles, reviews or =
considered opinion pieces. To discuss the suitability of a manuscript =
for inclusion in this ESR Special, please contact Dr. Leah Hannah (ESR =
Editor) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or Dr. Brendan Godley (ESR =
Editor-in-Chief) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

All articles will be published open-access so high profile and =
visibility is assured.

This ESR theme issue compliments others underway:

For 2007:

"Tracking vertebrates for their conservation". Now building with 2 =
articles published, 3 in press and 10 in review.

For 2008:

"Bycatch: problems and solutions"

"Bats: status, threats and conservation successes"

"Forensic methods in conservation"

"Range-wide status and conservation of the goliath grouper"

Please pass this message on to those who you think may be interested.

With kind regards

Brendan
