July 2007 Greetings, and happy field season! The governing council of the New England Botanical Club would like to let you know about some exciting developments regarding our journal, Rhodora:
· Volumes 1 through 79 (1899-1977) and the three cumulative indexes are available for free on the web through Botanicus, a web-based encyclopedia of historic botanical literature from the Missouri Botanical Garden Library. We plan to make more recent issues available at this site soon. · Current issues of the journal (from 2005 forward) are now available on-line through BioOne, a web-based compilation of bioscience research journals. · Library and institutional subscribers to the BioOne.2 collection also have access to digital copies of current issues (2005 forward). Because of the increased accessibility of Rhodora on the web, we anticipate a decline in the demand for paper copies of back issues of the journal, currently consuming lots of space in many boxes at the Pringle Herbarium at the University of Vermont. The NEBC council has decided to offer back issues of Rhodora, as available, to interested scientists for a nominal fee. Requests will be taken and filled in the order in which they are received. We plan to have orders filled and mailed by the end of the summer. We strongly prefer that you order back issues by volume sets (where possible; complete sets of all volumes are not available. We will send you as complete volumes as we can).
