Hello all, seeking some advice of the eminent wisdom of the group.

This semester I have been handed the reins on the senior Science
Professions course. It's a 1 credit seminar where students get their
resume and portfolios together. I would like to deliver an assessment
exam to them that tests not only what they know, but perhaps most
importantly, how well they think they know it.

Students in our program have 20-25 credits each in biology (lots of
biotech) and chemistry (organic, biochem) as well as physics and
calculus.

What I have been quizzing my colleagues on (with no shortage of debate)
what are the 10 or so fundamental principles students should know from
each of these disciplines.

If anyone has any experience with this type of thing, you thoughts,
questions, ideas etc are always appreciated.
