Wayne,
this is quite simple. If we take Haeckle saying ecology is the comprehensive
science of how organisms are related to each other and to their environment,
than agricultural ecology is nothing more and nothing less than the
comprehensive science of how organisms are related to each other and to their
environment in agricultural used ecosystems.
Or just take one of these:
Ecology of the cultural landscape
Ecology in agricultural landuse
Ecology in farmland

Compared to ecology in wilderness it is pretty obvious that the impact of
human activities gets much more important (like tillage, plant protection and
so on..). A very interesting questions to me is: Do we have to take humans as
organisms in the system or are their activities environmental factors like
wind, rainfall, and earthquakes?
Students from my lectors go home with this message: well, it
depends..........on the scale

Martin

Subject: Ecology Agricultural Definition

I'd like as many definitions of the term, "agricultural ecology" as
subscribers care to submit.

Thanks,
