Dear all,

Beginning today, and until November 30 2007 at 6pm local time, the ESA
Student Section Board will be accepting the submission of logos that will
represent the Student Section of Ecological Society of America. The logo
will appear on the ESA Student Section website and facebook group,
bi-monthly newsletter, and on various other items (e.g., t-shirts).

Goal:
Creation of an image that will help to identify the Student Section of the
Ecological Society of America within the ESA annual meetings and before
other scientific institutions.

Participants:
Any individual or group of individuals, not necessary members of the Student
Section, but members of the Ecological Society of America, who identify
themselves as students, comprehending from high school to the postdoctoral
stage.

Conditions:
The submitted proposals will follow these requisites:
-       Submit the materials by 6pm East Coast time to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with
the subject line “ESA Student Section Logo Contest”. Attach the file within
the same email. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
-       As part of the logo, the words “ESA Student Section” must appear in a
visible manner.
-       The Logo resolution will not be lower than 72 dpi; two copies will be
needed: one in jpg and another in pdf format.
-       Together with the logo, a 100 word description of its meaning. 
Successful
applications should try to match the meaning of the logo to the goals of the
ESA Student Section (http://www.esa.org/students/).

Selection:
The ESA Student Section board will narrow down the number of submissions to
the best five. These will then be presented to the ESA Student Section
members via email, and they will decide the winner by an anonymous email
voting system. The voting period will last for two weeks, after which time
votes will be counted by the ESA board and the winner and winning logo will
be made public on the Student Section website and in the newsletter.

Prize:
The ESA Student Section will award the creator of the winning logo with one
free registration to the ESA annual meeting 2008 in Milwaukee. Additionally,
the winner will be able to see the logo on our website, facebook group,
newsletter, and t-shirts during the forthcoming meetings and other Student
Section sponsored event.
