Position Title: Wildlife Biologist Position Classification: Regular, Full Time Compensation: DOE Benefits: Health and dental Insurance, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, 401K Plan, profit sharing Start Date: Immediately Wildlife biologist needed to lead a project specific field team during 5-year assessment of noise impacts on breeding birds in the Great Salt Lake ecosystem. Data collection includes point count distance sampling techniques, nest monitoring, noise monitoring, and habitat quality assessments. Opportunities also exist to assist in the operation of permanent long term avian banding stations in Nevada. Office duties will include data entry, QA/QC, data analysis and other assigned tasks. Qualifications: MS or BS with relevant experience in Wildlife Science or related field preferred. Must be able to identify birds (esp. shorebirds) by site/sound, collect avian productivity/point count data accurately, follow written/verbal instructions, conduct data analysis using program Distance, and calculate estimates of productivity using Mayfield methods. Other desirable skills include experience in conducting broadcast surveys for southwestern willow flycatchers and yellow-billed cuckoos, mist netting, and bird banding. GPS data collection and GIS skills a plus. Experience in conducting mammal and herp studies beneficial.
